On the 20th anniversary of Nam June Paik’s passing, the Nam June Paik Art Center takes Paik’s work beyond the museum and into the public space of Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) through Seoul Light DDP 2026 Autumn. Under the theme “Daybreaker: Breaking the Darkness, Opening New Light,” the festival features media façades, live performances, and laser shows. The Nam June Paik Art Center presents Paik’s video works as “K-Original Light,” celebrating his pioneering role in opening new possibilities for Korean culture.
First shown on CRT monitors in 1973, Paik’s works now meet Zaha Hadid’s iconic 222-meter-long DDP façade, expanding from the screen into a large-scale architectural experience. Through this event, the Nam June Paik Art Center brings Paik’s spirit of experimentation and artistic legacy to a wider audience, connecting audiences in Seoul with the museum in Yongin.
Participation TV (the one-ness of creator, audience, and critic) is surely one probable way for this goal…
and it is not a small virtue… not at all…
