To mark the 20th anniversary of Nam June Paik's passing, the Nam June Paik Art Center and PSK Holdings present NJP Lounge, a project that revisits and extends his ideas.

NJP Lounge 2026 is a commissioning program that supports emerging media artists exploring new possibilities for media art through the production and presentation of new works. An existing work and a new commission are presented on the media wall at the PSK Holdings Pangyo Campus and on a newly installed display at the Nam June Paik Art Center.

Yunyoung Jang combines visual art, technology, and ecological imagination. Through AI and interactive media, her practice explores relationships between human and nonhuman beings. NJP Lounge 2. Yunyoung Jang presents Symbiotic Luminescence (2025), which imagines the coevolution of bioluminescent bacteria and marine life in an ocean without sunlight, alongside Sense of the Aerial (2026), a new commission produced through this program.

The program also extends the Nam June Paik Art Center's vision of a museum connected through art and technology into the local community. Located in Pangyo Techno Valley 2, the PSK Holdings Pangyo Campus Lobby serves as a space where art, technology, and everyday life intersect. Through this collaboration, the partners seek to connect technological innovation with the social value of contemporary art.

Participating Artist

Yunyoung Jang (b. 1992)

Yunyoung Jang is a media artist whose practice explores the intersection of art, science, and technology. Her work examines the differences between human and machine perception and the ecological conditions of the post-pandemic era, imagining futures in which humans, nonhuman beings, environments, and artificial intelligence are interconnected. Using AI, video, sound, and sensing technologies, she visualizes relationships among nonhuman beings and ecosystems while exploring the possibilities of relational art through audience interaction.

Yunyoung received her BFA in Painting with a minor in Video Design from Kookmin University and her MFA in Art & Technology from Sogang University.

Her solo exhibition includes NEXT GAIA (17717, Seoul, 2022).
