In his first solo exhibition Exposition of Music – Electronic Television held in Germany in 1963, Nam June Paik transformed musical instruments, playback devices, and television circuits so that audiences could take part in an interesting way. The historic exhibition, through which Paik turned from a composer into a pioneer in media art, is represented here and now with VR technology.
Exposition of Music – Electronic Television in VR, developed by Nam June Paik Art Center in collaboration with Dankook University and Artivive, brings you to Galerie Parnass, the original venue of 1963, to Paik’s Klavier Intégral, Random Access, Experimental Televisions, and finally back TV Garden at Nam June Paik Art Center. This VR app that consists of five acts enables you to revisit the exhibition’s time and space and explore what Paik presented in terms of art and technology.
In Lounge&, 2F, Nam June Paik Art Center, you can experience the VR exhibition by putting on the headset and following the instructor’s guide in different learning programs; or you can download the VR app on your desktop PC and interact with it as if playing an online game.
