The program Symphony of Natural Fragments in conjunction with the exhibition The Last Consummate Second – Symphony No. 2 is an ensemble created by the artist and audience based on an online platform. Symphony of Natural Fragments, which is also a work of Moon Hae-Joo, which is presented in the exhibition of The Last Consummate Second – Symphony No. 2 seeks a new way of communication through this program.
Moon Hae-Joo devised a Symphony of Natural Fragments that audiences can participate and enjoy based on the “audience participation” directive in Nam June Paik’s text score Symphony for 20 Rooms. Moon made natural materials, wood, stone, and soil (ceramics) appearing in the instruction into an expanded form ‘stamps’ so that it could function as a note. Audiences can create their own sheet music by stamping it on a square paper that resembles Nam June Paik’s ‘rooms’ and take the completed sheet music home.
The online ensemble Symphony of Natural Fragments is designed to suggest activities (making score) caused by works as a movement that connects them to each other, not individually. Individual audiences who watched the exhibition present their scores displayed at home on the online platform. Online platforms such as SNS can check each other’s scores through a device called “Hashtag,” and the scores shared with the hashtag are linked to Moon Hae-Joo’s response. The results of communication through the medium called sheet music will be delivered as a gift to participants after the end of the exhibition. Using the online platform, which has become a meeting square and a place of communication today, as a venue, each experience in the actual exhibition hall will be an opportunity to create a performance.
