In conjunction with the exhibition The Last Consummate Second –Symphony No. 2, the performance Good Night Mr. Paik : 90 Times of Action will take place at the exhibition’s opening. It will be led by pianist sOojung kae, joined by performer Jun Park and calligrapher Noah Choi. Commemorating Paik’s 90th anniversary and borrowing the title of his 1984 work Good Morning Mr. Orwell, kae interprets and implements the “prepared piano” shown in Paik’s score Symphony for 20 Rooms, also in homage to his “action music.” With nine notes that can be connected to the names of German notes from the title Good Night Mr. Paik : 90 Times of Action, she arranges them on the base and forms the bars, and improvises the melody composed of the nine-degree up and down notes on each bass sound. To kae’s performance, actions from other performer and calligrapher are added, which will be unfolded with unpredictable situations and sounds.
