Nam June Paik, TV Crown, 1999
Led by technicians from the Nam June Paik Art Center, this Technology Lab draws on the documentation presented in Art–Technology Report I. The workshop introduces conservation and restoration cases involving major works in the Center’s collection and features a live technical demonstration recreating the operating principles of Nam June Paik’s early experimental television works, which were remade in the 1990s.

This live demonstration explores the distinctive mechanisms of CRT technology that cannot be fully replicated through digital systems and presents the operating principles behind Nam June Paik’s experimental television works recreated in the 1990s. - Analysis of analog signal flow through the internal circuitry of a CRT monitor - A hands-on session in which volunteers from the audience can directly manipulate video signals |
