Nam June Paik and Charlotte Moorman went to Australia invited by the Kaldor Public Art Projects in March 1976, and during their stay in Sydney, Moorman performed Sky Kiss. The performance took place near the Opera House in Sydney on April 11th, 1976. Held by eighteen colorful balloons, Moorman floated, if not high, for an hour and played the cello. She put on a headdress with two pointed peaks that looked like the roofs of the Opera House, and a white satin cape with a feathered trim. After this performance, Paik and Moorman headed to the Solomon Islands where they filmed Guadalcanal Requiem (1977). This photograph shows the performance of Sky Kiss in Linz, where many volunteers lifted Moorman off the ground near the River Danube, by employing an array of helium-filled tubes.
