Video Chandelier No. 1 is the first work among a series of small monitors suspended from the ceiling in the form of a chandelier. Unlike the later works, monitors in this version are all black and white, which is rare among the Chandelier series. While the cables and monitors are tangled, the piece takes the form of a beautiful chandelier. The kinetic composition from top to bottom, moving images on the screens, and light bulbs connected to the cables overwhelm the space and provide the audience standing below with a new experience of “spectatorship.”
