Random Access ― Mittelalterl. Notenschrift
Nam June Paik’s first solo exhibition, Exposition of Music ― Electronic Television (1963), displayed thirteen experimental televisions in which he manipulated the internal circuits of a television; the show served as the turning point for Paik, as he moved on to media art from the field of music. In the exhibition, Paik introduced Random Access, which visualized acoustics by inviting the viewers to go through the audiotapes on the wall using tape heads. Later, Paik produced the current work of the same title, visualizing the work in the form of a traditional score.
